THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The orange alert has been withdrawn in all the districts, as there is a slight relief for heavy rains in the state. Meanwhile, the yellow alert will continue in all districts due to the possibility of heavy rains. No orange alert has been issued in the districts tomorrow and the Central Meteorological Department has warned fishermen not to go fishing off the coast of Kerala till further notice as heavy rains are likely.

There are chances of strong winds 40-50 kmph and in some places 60 kmph and bad weather along the Kerala-Lakshadweep-Karnataka coast and along the southern Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and Kanyakumari coast till May 20. Strong wids and bad weather are also expected in Central Arabian Sea, North Karnataka and South Konkan coasts on May 21 and May 22.

In this situation, District Collector Dr. Navjot Khosa said that fishing is not allowed on the Kerala-Lakshadweep-Karnataka coast and other warning places till further notice.

The district collector said that as the sea is likely to be rough, people should move away from the danger zones as per the instructions of the authorities. Fishing vessels such as boats and canoes should be securely tied up and stored in the harbor. Maintaining a safe distance between boats will reduce the risk of collisions. The safety of fishing equipment should be ensured. The alert also says that trips to the beach and entertainment activities at sea should be avoided altogether.
