Plachimada struggle leader Kanniyamma passes away

PALAKKAD: Kanniyamma, the leader of the anti-Coca-Cola agitation in Plachimada, has passed away. She was 90 years old. She was suffering from age-related illnesses. Kanniyamma breathed her last at her home in Palakkad.

Kanniyamma came to the forefront and led the Plachimada agitation following the death of Mayilamma. She was the recipient of the Swabhiman award in 2017. She was imprisoned for being part of the Cola Company capture struggle.

Kanniyamma had participated in a parliamentary march in Delhi seeking approval for the Plachimada Compensation Tribunal Bill. She was also active in various agitations held at the state level in connection with the Plachimada issue.
