THRISSUR: The Thrissur Pooram fireworks have begun after days of uncertainty. The authorities decided to conduct the fireworks on Friday as the rains subsided. The fireworks, as part of the Pooram festivities which had been scheduled on May 11, was postponed due to heavy rains. As part of the fireworks, all the roads to Swaraj Round has been closed.
The ammunition depot, where both the Devaswoms have kept their fireworks, is located on either sides of Thekkinkadu Maidan. As a result, strict security including police guard and barricade have been deployed in the area. The officials had said the other day that it was difficult to store huge amounts of ammunition.
