Suspected food poisoning from prawns curry; woman dies

KOZHIKODE: A woman, who fell ill soon after eating prawns curry, died on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Sulaiha (46), wife of Karimbalakandy Moidu. Shee died at a private hospital in Kozhikode yesterday.

Sulaiha experienced illness on May 17 after eating prawns curry. The prawns were bought from the Kallachi market. Sulaiha, who was initially taken to private hospitals in Kallachi and Vadakara, was later shifted to a private hospital in Kozhikode as her condition worsened. However, she died on Friday morning. Her husband and younger son, who ate the same curry, also experienced stomach ailments. However, they did not seek any treatment.

Relatives said Sulaiha was diabetic. The body was buried after conducting a postmortem at Kozhikode Medical College.
