KSRTC seeks Rs 65 crore financial assistance from govt to pay salaries for May

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC management has submitted an application to the government requesting Rs 65 crore for the salary distribution for the month of May. This month's salary distribution was delayed due to delay in government assistance.


At the same time, the reduction in fuel prices has brought relief to KSRTC. The corporation consumes 3.5 lakh litres of diesel per day. With the discount, the profit will be around Rs 20-25 lakh per day. An additional Rs 2.5 crore is required to pay the April salary. From the superintendent to the executive directors and contract staff, 750 people are to be paid. The effort is to pay the salary from Monday's income. On Friday, Rs 53.5 crore was given for the salary of drivers and conductors and Rs. 20 crore on Saturday for mechanics, ministerial and others. Excluding the pay on dies non days, Rs 76 crore is required to pay the salaries in April.
