Boy’s hate slogans in popular front rally; one in custody

ALAPPUZHA: One person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident of a child raising hate slogans at a rally organised by the Popular Front of India (PFI). Anzar, a native of Erattupetta, was taken into custody for carrying the boy shouting slogans on his shoulders.


Anzar was taken into custody from his house in Erattupetta and taken to Alappuzha South Police Station. Mujeeb, Popular Front Alappuzha district secretary and Navaz Vandanam, president, are the first and second accused. A case has been registered against the boy’s parents also.

According to IPC 153 A, a case has been registered against those who brought the boy to the rally and the organizers on the charge of inciting religious hatred. The video of the boy raising provocative hate slogans at the rally were widely circulated on the social media.

Following that, the advocates parishad lodged a complaint with the police. Special branch DySP had submitted a report to district police chief asserting that the child had shouted provocative slogans at the rally in Alappuzha on Saturday.
