Actress assault case: Vijay Babu will reach Kerala soon, will be given special travel documents

KOCHI: Actor and producer Vijay Babu will soon be brought to Kerala from Dubai in connection with the actress rape case. An attempt is being made to prepare a separate travel document via the consulate as his passport has been cancelled. The procedures for the same were started the other day.

Vijay Babu, who had been hiding in Georgia, arrived in Dubai on Monday. Kochi city police commissioner C H Nagaraju had warned the actor that a red corner notice would be issued through the Interpol if he did not reach Kochi by the evening of May 24.

In addition, the high court said on Monday that Vijay Babu’s anticipatory bail plea would be considered only after he returns from abroad. The defendant’s advocate argued that the actor had gone abroad before the police registered the case and that he could not return as his passport has been cancelled.

However, the government’s advocate said the actor had fled abroad in order to escape the investigation. With this, the court said that Vijay Babu’s anticipatory bail plea will be considered only after the actor returns to the state.
