KOLLAM: The court will pronounce the quantum of sentence for Kiran Kumar convicted in the suicide case of his wife Vismaya, a medical student, today. The argument will begin at the Kollam First Additional District Sessions Court Tuesday at 11 am. The punishment will be pronounced by noon.

The prosecution will demand to award him life imprisonment. The defendant may assert that the sentence be commuted considering his age. The court had yesterday found him guilty in the case.

Judge K N Sujith found him guilty under sections dowry death 304 (B), dowry harassment 498 (A), abetment to suicide 306 and sections 3 and 4 of dowry prohibition act.

Vismaya was found dead on June 21, 2021 at the house of her husband Kiran Kumar, a motor vehicle inspector, in the toilet adjacent to her bedroom. Kiran was terminated from service.
