Thrikkakara turns homeland of leaders

KOCHI: In Thrikkakara, where the campaign has entered its last week, the fronts are trying their best to secure votes by fielding all the top leaders. National and state leaders, the Chief Minister, Ministers, MPs and MLAs are camping in Kochi to participate in the election campaign. The election will take place on the 31st.

Thrikkakara first attained the star status when the CPM fielded its captain to lead the campaign works. On the other hand, Opposition Leader VD Satheesan is leading the campaigning for the Congress. The BJP too is active in Thrikkakara with the party's state president leading election campaigning.

Pinarayi Vijayan has been participating in public meetings and review meetings for three days. He is still in Thrikkakara. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and LDF convener EP And Jayarajan are devising strategies. Ministers Muhammad Riyas, V. Sivankutty, Veena George, VN Vasavan, K.N. Balagopal, Saji Cherian, M.V. Govindan, leaders Abdul Rahman, a. Vijayaraghavan, A.M. Ariff MP, KB Ganesh Kumar and Elamaram Kareem are also campaigning at the grassroots level.

Squad work is carried out by the leaders of the youth, women, student, labour and feeder organizations of the three fronts. The fronts are also bringing in prominent personalities to attract the neutrals.

Congress leaders carry out door-to-door visits

Senior leaders of the Congress and the UDF carried out door-to-door visits at the booth level yesterday. The Congress team, including national general secretary KC Venugopal, Ramesh Chennithala, MM Hassan, MPs K Muraleedharan, Benny Behanan, Hibi Eden, Anto Antony, Rajmohan Unnithan, Jebi Mather, NK Premachandran, Remya Haridas, CP John, G Devarajan, PJ Joseph, Anoop Jacob and Mani C Kappan, campaigned in 164 booths.

Large contingent of NDA leaders
A large contingent of NDA leaders is also taking part in campaigning activities. BJP state president K Surendran, national committee member PK Krishnadas, national secretary Aravind Menon, national vice president AP Abdullakutty, Kummanam Rajasekharan, CK Padmanabhan, Sobha Surendran and BDJS president Thushar Vellapally and others are at the forefront. Former Managing Director of Delhi Metro E. Sreedharan will campaign the next day.
