KOCHI: The high court will consider actor and producer Vijay Babu’s anticipatory bail plea in the sexual abuse case of the actress on Friday. The plea was moved for Friday as the government sought more time, last day.

On Friday, Vijay Babu informed the court via his advocate that he will arrive in Kerala on May 30. In this situation, the anticipatory bail plea can be considered on May 31 or June 1. If the actor fails to show up, then the anticipatory bail plea will be rejected on May 31. The single bench, which had considered the case, earlier said that the bail plea shall be considered after Vijay Babu arrives in the state and directed to submit a copy of the ticket before the court. Following this, Vijay Babu’s advocate submitted a copy of the ticket in the court.

Justice P Gopinath, who considered the case, said on Friday that it was in the best interest of the prosecution, the complainant and others related to the case for the accused to appear within the jurisdiction of the court. Meantime, additional prosecution director general Gracious Kuriakose told the court yesterday that Vijay Babu should not be allowed to place conditions before the court and that the accused’s mercy was not required. He also told the court that the accused, who fled from the law, would be caught in any case and all available means would be sought.
