KOCHI: The slogans chanted amid the Popular Front rally were learnt by heart, said the 10-year-old boy. “Nobody taught me. I have chanted the same slogan before also”, said the boy.

The police have taken the boy’s father and Popular Front activist Askar Ali into custody in connection with the incident. He was nabbed from his house at Palluruthy in Kochi. Askar told the police that he did not teach his son to chant the slogans.

‘I attend Popular Front events with my family. He would have heard and learnt the slogans from such demonstrations. The slogan was against the RSS. Only a portion of it was circulated. Religious sentiments have not been hurt’, Askar said.

The visuals of the boy sitting on the shoulders of a man and chanting the slogans were widely circulated on social media. Following which, the advocates parishad lodged a complaint with the police. The police have taken numerous people into custody in connection with the case.
