alappuzha

ALAPPUZHA: The municipal council meeting has decided to continue the ban imposed on Reliance Jio Infocomm for laying cables in the city. The move comes as Reliance has not paid the huge amount of compensation to the municipality and is secretly trying to install poles and pull cables contrary to the agreement reached under the bilateral talks. The night squad of the municipality found and stopped the activities that took place at night without permission. Following this, the council decided to ban unauthorized construction in public places.

A special squad will be deployed to detect and take action against such illegal activities of Reliance. Soumya Raj, president of the municipality, and PSM Hussain, vice-chairman of the corporation, said that all types of cabling activities in the city by Reliance Jio Infocomm have been banned and that the municipality should be notified of any such works if it comes to notice.
