NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished speedy recovery to Congress national president Sonia Gandhi from Covid-19. He wished her on Twitter.
Sonia was in self-isolation after Covid was confirmed. This happened after ED issued a notice to both Sonia and Rahul Gandhi in a money laundering case related to the National Herald newspaper. Sonia was asked to appear on June 8. However, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said that Sonia Gandhi would appear for questioning. Sonia Gandhi has a slight fever and has Covid symptoms. He said she is now under isolation and needs a medical examination.
In the case, Rahul Gandhi was asked to appear on June 2 but was told that he could not reach because he was abroad. The publishers of the National Herald are Associated Journals Limited (AJL), owned by Young Indian Pvt. The case alleges fraud, conspiracy and breach of trust in the acquisition of AJL by Young Indian Pvt. At the same time, the Congress says that no transaction has taken place and that the debt has only been converted into shares to pay off salaries and so on.

According to ED officials, the notice was issued to record the statements of Rahul and Sonia on the basis of the criminal provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. As part of the probe, the ED had questioned Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Pawan Bansal.
