Covid cases continue to rise in state, 1494 confirmed cases today, Ernakulam with highest number of patients

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The number of Covid patients in the state has increased again. Today, 1494 positive cases were reported. Ernakulam has the highest number of patients - 439. Thiruvananthapuram district is second with 230 cases. Two Covid deaths were also reported.

Meanwhile, 12 cases with new Covid variants were confirmed in Tamil Nadu today. Four cases with Omicron BA4 variant and eight cases with BA5 have been reported. The new variant was found in samples collected between May 21- 26 . All of them have been discharged from hospital. But officials said they would continue home isolation.

The Health department has issued warning as more people are likely to be affected. 4512 confirmed cases have been reported in the country today. Kerala and Maharashtra have the highest number of patients.
