Sharp rise in Covid cases in state, doubles in a week, more restrictions likely to be imposed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The number of Covid victims in the state is rising sharply. The number of patients has doubled in the last one week. 2271 people were confirmed of the virus yesterday. The daily number of Covid cases in the state crossed 2,000 three months later. 2190 people were diagnosed with the disease on March 4.


622 cases were reported yesterday in Ernakulam alone. The number of cases is also increasing in Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Kottayam, Kollam and Pathanamthitta. The death toll is also rising. Next week would be crucial.

Covid cases are rising in many states in the country. More restrictions are likely to be imposed in this situation. The centre directed to ensure quarantine and follow Covid norms including mask and social distance.
