NEW DELHI: India scored well in the first T20I against South Africa. Batting first after losing the toss, India scored 211 for four in 20 overs. Ishant Kishan (76 off 48 balls) was the top scorer for India after a disappointing performance in the IPL. The performance of Captain Rishabh Pant (29 off 16 balls) and vice-captain Hardik Pandya (31 off 12 balls) in the final overs led India to a huge score of over 200 runs.
Earlier, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, who won the toss, chose to field. India had a good start by openers Ishant Kishan and Rituraj Gaikwad. The duo put on 57 runs in the first wicket partnership off 57 balls which gave India a solid start. Rituraj scored 23 runs off 15 balls.

Shreyas Iyer, who came to the crease after Rituraj's dismissal, was dismissed for 36 runs off 27 balls. When Iyer was dismissed in the first ball of the 17th over, India's score was 156-3. The partnership of Rishabh Pant and Hardik Patel at the crease made India score above 200 runs. For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj, Anrich Nortje, Wayne Parnell and Dwaine Pretorius took one wicket each.
