THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KURTC started by KSRTC for journeys within the cities is now being closed down. It was formed in 2015 with its headquarters in Thevara, Kochi . They are not buying new buses and the other buses are not in a working condition.

In 2010, under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (GNRM), 300 low-floor buses first arrived in Thiruvananthapuram. Soon the service was extended in Kochi and Kozhikode. During Covid period, these buses got rusted. Now only 97 services are active. Of these 70 buses have been included in City Circular bus services in Thiruvananthapuram.

The state will soon get 50 electric buses under the central government's scheme for urban transport. E-buses will be used in Thiruvananthapuram city.
