THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A murder attempt case has been registered against youth congress activists who protested against the chief minister in the flight. Action has been taken against Mattannur block president Farzeen Majeed, district secretary R K Naveen Kumar and Mattanur mandalam secretary Sunith Kumar.
The case was registered based on the statement of the chief minister's gunman Anil and the letter of Indigo’s ground manager. In addition to the murder attempt charges, they were also charged with obstruction of official duty, trespassing affecting aircraft security and criminal conspiracy.
Farzeen and Naveen protested against the chief minister by shouting slogans inside Indigo 6 E 7404 flight from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram. The visuals were shot by Sunith Kumar. Farzeen was wearing a black T Shirt.
The passengers had to undergo tight inspection before boarding the flight. Though the police knew that the two were local leaders of the youth congress, they boarded saying that they were going to meet their relative undergoing treatment in RCC. They took the ticket at the last minute by paying Rs 12,000 each.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been facing protests by Congress and BJP workers since the gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh claimed that he and his family had a role in some smuggling activities.
