SALEM: A youth has been arrested after he beat his wife to death using a cricket bat. The victim has been identified as Dhanasriya (26) of Mullai Nagar in Salem. The police arrested her husband Keerthiraj (31). A dispute over not getting a car as dowry led to the murder.
The couple got married three years ago. The couple shifted to a rented house from their family home a few days ago. It was after this harassment over dowry started. He demanded more ornaments and a car.
He hit her with a cricket bat in a fit of rage. He tried to stage the murder as suicide by hanging the body. He later informed his in-laws that she committed suicide. After seeing injuries on her head and face, they lodged a complaint.
When questioned he admitted that he had murdered his wife.
