Kerala likely to witness rain with thunderstorms till Sunday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has warned of isolated thundershowers in the state till Sunday.

The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has advised people to take precautionary measures from the time of onset of the clouds and do not refrain from taking precautionary measures as the thundershower is not visible. Avoid standing in open areas in case of any signs of lightning. Windows and doors should be closed. Disconnect electrical connection of the appliances. Avoid using electrical equipments.

It is dangerous to sit on the terrace, high altitude areas or on a tree branch during thunderstorms. Should avoid flying kites. If the atmosphere is cloudy, do not allow children to play in the open space or on the terrace.

There will be no current in the body of the person struck by lightning. So immediate medical attention should be provided to the victim.

Do not go for fishing or bathing in the water. People should stay inside the vehicles during thundershower as it is safe. Should avoid travelling in bicycles, bikes and tractors warns State Disaster Management Authority.
