THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday has decided to settle lakhs of pending files in the Secretariat within September 30 and also to supervise this each month.
Kerala Kaumudi news reports has also helped the government to take such an action. This plan was earlier tried once in 2019 from August to October. But the aim was not fulfilled. During Covid period, the number of pending files have also increased.The CM has suggested to include file settlement into the agenda of any one Cabinet meeting out of four held every month. 5000 employees of the Secretariat will be part of this. The Chief Minister has initiated this file settlement plan and has addressed the employees.
Files from the year 2015-2022 has been included in this and these are from various departments. Three lakh pending files are in Secretariat as of now. In 2019, it was 1.98 lakh. 68,000 files have been settled. 'Settlement of files should be done in a timely and efficient manner. Fair and transparent decision must be taken. Should also consider setting aside a holiday in a month for file settlement' ,said the Chief Minister.
