I have no doubt about Sanju's talent, he can make a permanent presence in the Indian team; Gavaskar softens his stance on Sanju Samson

MUMBAI: Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sunil Gavaskar has said that he had no doubt about Sanju Samson's talent and that if Sanju improves his shot selection, he will be able to make a permanent presence in the Indian Twenty20 team. Gavaskar, who had earlier been a vocal critic of Sanju, softened his stance in an interview with an international media outlet.

Sanju, who had done well in the IPL, was not selected in the squad for the Twenty20 series against South Africa. However, Sanju has been included in the 17 - member Indian squad for the two-match Twenty20 series against Ireland.

"Sanju has done well for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. However, Sanju is often unable to pull off this performance while playing for India. No one will question Sanju's ability to change the course of the match," Gavaskar said in the interview.
