Three-member team arrested for attacking hospital when asked to wear masks

KOLLAM: The three-member team who attacked the hospital when asked to wear masks has been arrested. Vishnu, Ratheesh and Akhil, natives of Neendakara are those arrested. The police nabbed them from their hiding place in Mailakkad. The incident happened on Monday night at the Neendakara Govt Taluk hospital.

Those on duty asked a bystander to wear mask when he came with the patient on June 19. The youth questioned this and created a commotion in the hospital and also misbehaved with a nurse. The hospital authorities had lodged a complaint at the Chavara police. It is suspected that the enmity towards it ended in the attack.

Two including a staff nurse was injured in the attack. Staff nurse Shyamili and security employee Sankarankutty sustained injuries. After kicking Shyamili, they smashed the glass panes of the casualty’s pharmacy. The team also tried to attack duty doctor Unnikrishnan, when he tried to stop them from attacking Shyamili. She has been shifted to the district hospital.
