Woman commits suicide after killing her children: Policeman's girlfriend sent in remand

ALAPPUZHA: Police have arrested a woman in connection with the incident in which a woman committed suicide in the police quarters after killing her children. Alappuzha native Shahana (24) was taken into custody by the District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB) team led by DySP. Police said that Shahana is the girlfriend of Civil Police Officer Renees, the husband of the deceased woman. She has been booked under incitement to suicide.

Shahana had pressurised Renees to marry her. She had urged him to get separated from his wife Najla and children. Shahana also threatened Najla that she would come to her home and stay with them as Renees's wife. Six months ago, she had come to the quarters with the same demand. Police said that Shahana had threatened Najla and her children the day before Najla committed suicide. Shahana, who was produced in court, was remanded.

Police said that Shahana and Renees, who are relatives, had been in love for years. Shahana, a college student, had been living at the home of a relative of Renees. Police have received mobile phone evidence and other scientific evidence against Shahana.
