Strengthen testing and speed up vaccination; Centre orders to remain vigilant to curb Covid spread

NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has demanded to remain vigilant to curb Covid spread in the country. The minister was speaking at a high-level meeting convened by the Union Health Ministry in the wake of the rising number of Covid cases.

During the meeting, the minister suggested that the monitoring of patients and those undergoing treatment should be strengthened, testing should be increased and vaccination should be expedited. He also said that samples should be sent for genome sequencing to find the variant.

13,313 confirmed Covid cases were reported in the country in 24 hours. The Union Ministry of Health has asked the states to stay vigilant as the number of patients exceeds 13,000 per day. The new TPR is 2.03 percent. About 60% of the patients are in Kerala and Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, Kerala reported 3981 positive cases and seven deaths today. Ernakulam has the highest number of patients- 970.In Thiruvananthapuram, 880 active cases were recorded.
