BENGALURU: The GSAT-24 satellite, built by ISRO for NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) was launched successfully from Kourou in French Guiana. The satellite was launched by the French company Arianespace.
GSAT-24 is a 24-Ku band communication satellite weighing 4,180 kg with pan India coverage for meeting the direct-to-home (DTH) application needs. The Indian government-owned enterprise NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL) has leased the entire satellite capacity to Tata Play.
The GSAT-24 has a life span of 15 years. The GSAT-24 is the 25th Indian satellite orbited by Arianespace. This is the first time that an Indian satellite has been leased out to a private company.
