Attack on Rahul Gandhi’s office: Congress to launch huge protest rally

WAYANAD: The Congress is planning to launch a huge protest rally over the SFI activists’ attack on Rahul Gandhi MP’s office in Kalpetta. The UDF will conduct a rally and protest meeting in Wayanad, on Saturday.

The Congress has decided to hold a rally of thousands of people at the MP office premises at 3 pm on Saturday. Following which, a protest meeting will also be held at Kalpetta Town. Leaders, including AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, opposition leader V D Satheesan and Kodikunnil Suresh MP, will participate in the rally.

The SFI activists had vandalized Rahul Gandhi’s Kalpetta office, alleging that he was not intervening in the buffer zone issue.

At around 3.30 pm last day, around 300 activists, including girls, led by SFI district secretary Jishnu Shaji and district president Joel, stormed into the office nearby the National Highway. They also destroyed the windows and shutters of the office. The police have arrested 19 SFI activists in connection with the incident.
