Earthquake in Kasaragod; loud tremor heard at around 7:45 am, say local residents

KASARAGOD: A small earthquake was recorded at Vellarikundu, Panathady in Kasaragod district. The tremor, accompanied by a loud sound, was reportedly heard at around 7:45 am on Tuesday.

According to local residents, the earthquake lasted for about four seconds. The epicenter of the earthquake is in Kodagu, Karnataka. The epicenter is located 9.6 km away from Sullia, 24 km from Madikeri, 46 km from Kanhangad and 42 km from Taliparamba.

Meantime, a tremor with a magnitude of 3.5 in the Richter scale was recorded within a five-kilometre limit in Kudagu. No cracks or major damages have been reported so far. A similar earthquake was reported in Kasaragod on June 25 as well.
