NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court asked BJP former spokesperson Nupur Sharma to apologise to the country for the incidents that happened in the country following her remarks against the Prophet. Justice Surya Kant said this while considering her plea filed in the Supreme Court stating that all the FIR against her should be transferred to Delhi and that there is a threat to her life.
The Supreme Court said Nupur Sharma is solely responsible for all the untoward incidents that happened in the country and directly hunted the Udaipur case. The court rejected her claim of threat to her life. The court asked whether there was a threat to Nupur or whether Nupur was a security threat to the society. The court said saw the debate on TV and claiming to be a lawyer after making the controversial statement was embarrassing. The court in harsh language said Nupur is responsible for all the untoward incidents happening in the country.
Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Rajasthan, was brutally murdered by two men for posting on social media in support of Nupur Sharma's comments. Massive protests were witnessed across the country. In the wake of this incident, the court harshly criticised Nupur.
