The crisis surrounding Shaji Kailas-Prithviraj movie ‘Kaduva’ continues as the high court made it clear that it cannot interfere in the single bench’s order given to the censor board to examine the film. The court did not intervene in the appeal filed by screenwriter Jinu Varghese Abraham and Prithviraj Productions against the order issued on the petition filed by Jose Kuruvinakkunnel against the film.
The case was heard by a bench comprising of Justice K Vinod Chandran and C Jayachandran. The court asked what was wrong in the single bench verdict. The division bench observed that there was nothing wrong in the independent exercise of the power vested in the board by hearing the grievance of the complainant independently. The plea will be considered later for further arguments.
The single bench of the high court had directed the censor board to examine the movie, as per the complaint filed by Jose Kuruvinakkunnel, a few days ago. The complainant had alleged that the movie was based on his life and there were scenes in the film that insulted him and his family. The high court had said that censor certificate should be issued only after examining the complaint. The film will be examined by the censor board on Monday.
Earlier, the makers had announced that the film, which was supposed to hit the theaters on June 30, was postponed due to some unforeseen circumstances.
