Labourer who went missing in Elapara landslide in Idukki, dies

IDUKKI: A labourer who got trapped in the landslide at Kozhikanam Estate in Elapara has died. Pushpa, employee of Kozhikanam Estate, died in the landslide that happened Monday morning at 4 am. Earth caved in behind the place where the estate labourers stay. The locals immediately informed the fire brigade.

Pushpa was found in a two-hour search conducted by the fire force. However, her life could not be saved. The body has been shifted to Peerumedu Taluk Hospital. Earth caved in on top of her when she was in the kitchen. Her husband and three children passed the information to others. It has been raining heavily in this area for the past few days. Orange alert has been sounded in Idukki as heavy rains are likely to lash the district today.
