Renowned Bengali director Tarun Majumdar passes away

KOLKATA: Renowned Bengali director Tarun Majumdar (91) passed away on Monday. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kolkata for age-related ailments. Majumdar made his directorial debut with the Bengali film 'Chaowa Pawa'. He is known for films such as Kuheli (1971), Balika Badhu (1976), Shriman Prithviraj (1973), Fuleswari (1974), Dadar Kirti (1980) and Bhalobasa Bhalobasa (1985). Majumdar made great films along with actors such as Suchitra Sen, Chhabi Biswas and Soumitra Chatterjee. In 1990, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri.
