Cancer treatment nearby home; 25 government hospitals in the state now provides facilities for treatment

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of the decentralized cancer treatment system, facilities for cancer treatment including chemotherapy have been prepared in 25 government hospitals. The health department is implementing the plan to provide treatment for patients near their own home.

The Cancer treatment facilities has been set up in Nedumangad District Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital, Kollam District Hospital, Punalur Taluk Head Quarters Hospital, Pathanamthitta General Hospital, Kozhancherry District Hospital, Alappuzha General Hospital, Mavelikara District Hospital, Kottayam District Hospital, Pala General Hospital, Thodupuzha District Hospital, Ernakulam General Hospital, Muvatupuzha District Hospital, Vadakkancheri Taluk Head Quarters Hospital, Thrissur General Hospital, Palakkad District Hospital, Ottapalam Taluk Head Quarters Hospital, Tirur District Hospital, Perinthalmanna District Hospital, Nilambur District Hospital, Kozhikode Beach Hospital, Nalloornad Tribal Hospital, Kannur District Hospital, Thalassery General Hospital and Kanhangad General Hospital in collaboration with the government cancer treatment centres of the state.

Cancer screening, related cancer treatment services, medications and palliative care services will also be made available here. The patients can approach nearby centres for further treatment after treatment at Medical Colleges, RCC, Malabar Cancer Centre and Cochin Cancer Centre.
