A lawyer with a bundle of educational qualifications sells fish, makes a profit of Rs 10,000 per day

KOLLAM: 44-year old advocate Nelson Thomas with high educational qualifications earns Rs 10,000 per day by selling fish. He made ponds on six acres of land taken for lease and started pisciculture. Almost 4000 fishes were reared recently. 12 persons are also employed and a 2000 sq ft building is built from the profit received. Nelson also does farming at his 60 cents of land. He also runs Pappayas Fresh restaurant and Pappayas fresh fish centres. Nelson helps in cutting and selling of fish as well. Home delivery is also available, a mobile app is being created for this which costs Rs 7 lakhs.

Nelson, son of Yohannan, a retired KSRTC driver and Saramma does not hestitate to do any job. He started fish selling with the thought of earning money along with his studies. Although he was teased by his friends, his family supported him.

Because of trawling, he currently sells fishes like Tilapia, Karimeen(green chromide etc).

Along with his business, Nelson Thomas is also an advocate at Kottarakara Bar Association. He still continues his studies and is a research scholar in Management studies. Nelson has a huge list of qualifications including B.Ed, MBA, M.Phil, LLB and LLM. His wife Lini Jose and children Neha and Niya also supports him. The advocate says that he is happy while selling fish and also makes a good earning.
