Will not abandon SilverLine project, will implement it after addressing concerns, says CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said in the assembly that the government will not abandon the SilverLine project.

"A comprehensive environmental impact study is in progress. The government has promised to pay high compensation while acquiring land for the project. We are planning to resolve the concerns and implement the project with public support," the CM said.

The Chief Minister also said that the internal vigilance system in departments will be strengthened to prevent corruption and bribery. "Prosecution proceedings against the accused have been expedited. The recommendations of the Fourth Administrative Reforms Commission report will be implemented to ensure corruption-free governance," he said.

"The biometric punching system introduced in the Secretariat will be implemented in all government offices. We are checking how to redeploy employees without reducing the number of posts. Recruitment to all vacancies in government services, including vacancies reserved for ex-servicemen, will be expedited. 10,400 new job opportunities were created in the IT sector during Covid. 181 new companies started functioning," he added.


25 goonda gangs in Kerala
Five people were killed in gang attacks during the term of this government. 26 people were injured. 29 cases were registered. 179 people were arrested. Two each were killed in Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam and one in Alappuzha. 25 gangs are operating in the state. 222 people are actively involved in gang activities.

3,292 people died in accidents involving private vehicles in one year. 27,745 people sustained serious injuries and 10,591 people suffered minor injuries in 35,476 accidents. 510 people died in accidents caused by goods lorries. 1000 pedestrians were killed in accidents in one year. Five people were killed in bike racing accidents in various parts of the state.
