Man dresses up as Lord Shiva to protest against Modi Govt on price rise

GUWAHATI: A man has been arrested in Assam for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by dressing up as Lord Shiva during a street play. The police arrested one of those who staged a street play mocking the Narendra Modi government. The skit was performed in protest against the price hike. Its video was widely circulated on social media.

Hindu organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal came forward against the programme in God’s dress. The police took action after receiving a complaint alleging misuse of religion for political purposes. Birinji Bora and Parishimita performed the skit dressed as Shiva and Parvathi.

Following the complaint, Birinchi Bora was taken into custody and taken to Nagaon Sadar police station. Birinji Bora was arrested while riding a two-wheeler in god’s dress.
