PANAJI: It has been reported that three MLAs didn't attend Congress party meeting held in Goa with only hours left for the assembly session. The national media reports that Congress MLAs in Goa are likely to join the BJP. But the Congress leadership denied this news.

Congress currently has 11 members in the Goa Legislative Assembly. The NDA has won 25 seats in the 40-member assembly and is in power. Congress MLA Aleixo Sequeira said that seven of the 11 members attended the meeting and there was no point in rumours. The party also denied reports that the former chief minister was unhappy with the appointment of Michael Lobo as the leader of the opposition. At the same time, some reports indicate that Lobo, who joined the Congress from the BJP before the elections, is still on good terms with his old party.

In 2019, when MLAs of the party joined the BJP, only four former chief ministers remained as legislators. In the last elections, the Congress made all MLAs took an oath not to leave the party.
