Australia helped us during crisis, shouldn’t create problems for them; Won’t disrupt Sri Lanka’s second Cricket Test, says protesters

COLOMBO: As per the current decision, the second cricket test between Sri Lanka and Australia will not be postponed despite the ongoing tensions in the country due to the severe financial crisis, civil unrest and the occupation of the President's residence by the protesters.

The protesters are not against the match. They have decided not to mix politics and sports. The people of Sri Lanka have great respect for Australia, who came with a full squad to play in their insecure country, while the people are going through a great crisis.

Sri Lankans showed their gratitude to the Aussies by wearing Australian jerseys and arriving at the gallery with their flags. Earlier, the protesters had marched to the Galle stadium and climbed atop a nearby fort, but there were no attempts to disrupt the match. The Pakistan test team is also in Sri Lanka for the test series scheduled to begin on July 16.
