NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi’s foreign trips are being discussed once again. The leader’s absence, while the party is facing a crisis in Goa, has become the talk of the town. According to national media sources, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has left the country on Tuesday for yet another foreign trip and will be back only on July 17. However, the Wayanad MP’s trip destination remains a mystery.
Rahul Gandhi’s foreign trip comes in the backdrop of the deepening crisis within the Goa Congress unit. The party has not yet been ready to disclose the purpose of the trip. Meantime, the Congress is planning to take strong action against the rebel leaders for their anti-party activities. As part of this, Michael Lobo was removed from the post of opposition leader. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has asked senior leader and party MP Mukul Wasnik to visit the state and monitor the developments. According to the Congress’ allegation, the BJP is trying to split the Goa Congress unit by offering huge sums of money to the Congress MLAs.
Rahul Gandhi's absence, while the party is in crisis, has been questioned in the past too. Earlier, a video of Rahul attending a night club party had gone viral on social media. Following which, the leaders had justified that he went to attend a friend’s wedding.
