Gold worth crores seized at Karipur airport

MALAPPURAM: The Customs Preventive Department on Wednesday seized two and a half kilos of gold worth several crores from two passengers at the Karipur airport. The gold was seized from Thalassery native Shajahan and Malappuram native Karim. The two were arrested and later released on bail.

While 992 grams of gold were seized from Shahjahan, 1 kilo and 51 grams were seized from Karim. Sources said that Karim tried to smuggle gold b hiding it in a mixer grinder. Both Shahjahan and Karim arrived at Karipur from Dubai this morning.
