PATNA: Three terrorists, including a former police officer, who planned to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi who visited Bihar last Tuesday, have been arrested. On July 11, central investigation agencies and the police conducted an inspection at Naya Tola near Phulwari Sharif, Patna, in Jharkhand. Police officer M.D. Jallaluddin and Muhammad Atar Parvesh were arrested by the police. Then the NIA took over the investigation and arrested one more person.

The police also received CCTV footage of the arrested persons receiving weapons training as Popular Front and SDPI activists, from several places including Kerala.

The search was based on a report by intelligence agencies that terrorist activities were taking place in the area. The police confirmed that the accused had links with the Popular Front and 'SIMI'. The police also stated that the arrested had received financial support for anti-national activities from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey and many other countries.

They had conducted weapons training at Phulwari Sharif near Patna 15 days before Modi's visit. A special meeting was held on July 6 and 7 to target Modi. The investigation team also informed that many youths from states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal are coming to the area for terrorist training. Following the incident, a search was conducted at the offices of the accused and documents titled 'Make India an Islamic State by 2047' and 25 pamphlets of the Popular Front of India were found.
