Heavy rain likely to lash state today, yellow alert in three districts; Water level in Mullaperiyar Dam touches 135 ft

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain is likely to lash at isolated places in the state today. Central and North Kerala will receive more rain. Yellow alert has been sounded in Idukki, Malappuram and Kasaragod.

There is no ban for fishing in Kerala coast. Yellow alert has been sounded in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow and in Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki and Malappuram on Wednesday.


Meantime, the water level in Mullaperiyar Dam has touched 135.80 feet. As rains have reduced, the water level has been rising slowly. As per the present rule curve, the dam can store 136.50 feet of water. Idukki district collector issued a letter to Theni Collector stating that should give a warning if the spillway shutter has to be raised.
