KOLLAM: A complaint has been lodged for checking girls appearing for the NEET exam after removing their undergarments. The students who appeared for the exam at Chadayamangalam in Kollam went through an embarrassing checking. The students filed a complaint with the Kottarakkara DySP. The issue has stoked a controversy.

The incident happened at a college in Ayoor. One of the girls’ parents filed a complaint with the Kottarakkara DySP. However, the college authorities said they are not aware of it and an agency entrusted by NEET team was in charge of checking girls appearing for the exam. As per the complaint, the girls were asked to remove their undergarments at the metal detection stage during the frisking process before entering the exam hall.

Later, Higher Education Minister R Bindu said that the act of forcing girl students to remove their undergarments ahead of the NEET examination was condemnable.

"It was an irresponsible action. This is a huge error on the part of the agency appointed to conduct the exam. The mental trauma caused by this to the children taking the exam is sure to affect the exam. The state government will convey its displeasure regarding the incident to the central ministry in writing," the minister said.

The Human Rights Commission has asked for a report within 15 days on the complaint that the student was forced to remove her underwear. The commission has registered a case in the incident.
