THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The case against Swapna Suresh for inciting riots in giving a secret statement against the Chief Minister and case against ex-MLA Sabarinathan on charges of attempt to murder and conspiracy using WhatsApp screenshot as evidence will not stand. A case of attempt to murder for shouting slogans on the plane is also under the consideration of the court. Meanwhile, the court ordered a case against LDF convener E P Jayarajan and CM's gunman for manhandling those who raised slogans. A case has been registered under IPC sections 153 (incitement to riot) and 120-B (conspiracy) of the on account of Swapna's secret statement against the Chief Minister.
The police are also worried that the crime of incitement to riot will stand. If IPC 153 is not applicable, then the charges of conspiracy will also be struck out. The police's stand in the recent developments in the gold smuggling case and the arrest of PC George raised doubts on their action. P C George was given bail. Most recently, the police also faced backlash in the arrest of Sabarinathan. Although they pressed several charges he also received bail soon.
