Low pressure area from Konkan to north Kerala coast; Rains to continue in state, yellow alert in four districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Widespread rains are likely in the state, said India Meteorological Department (IMD). Yellow alert has been declared in four districts namely Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Malappuram.

Yellow alert has been declared in the districts of Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Malappuram on Friday. There is a low pressure area from the Konkan coast to the north Kerala coast. As a result, thundershowers are likely in the state for the next five days, said the meteorological department. Heavy rains refer to the condition in which an area receives rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
