LDF leads in local body bypolls; Wins 10 seats, UDF captures BJP’s seat

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The LDF has secured the lead in the local body bypolls by winning 10 seats. The UDF has won seven seats. While the UDF captured a seat from the BJP in Kasaragod’s Badiyadka, the BJP retained one seat in Alummoodu, Kollam.

The LDF has retained the first ward in Malappuram corporation, 13th ward in Kurumullur, Kottayam, and Pallikkara South in Thikkodi panchayat. An independent candidate of the LDF won in the second ward in Kallar panchayat. The UDF won in the eleventh ward of Vandanmedu and retained Kuttankulangara ward in Kollam. The UDF also captured the 14th ward in Badiyadka from the BJP. The UDF won the 22nd ward of Aluva municipal corporation. The LDF hoisted its victory flag in the second ward of Rajkumari panchayat and the 19th ward in Pallipuzha, Kasaragod. Meantime, the BJP retained the Alummoodu ward in Kollam.
