Irregularities in allotting building numbers in local bodies, govt incurs loss worth crores; shocking information found in vigilance raid

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Massive irregularities were found in the vigilance raids conducted statewide in local bodies. Vigilance raids were conducted in various municipalities under the name of Operation True House. In the raid conducted in Kannur Corporation, Panur, Thalassery, Iritty and Kasaragod municipalities, it was found that these municipalities have caused a loss of crores to the government in case of building tax.

It was also found that the six-storey flat in Thayalangadi, Kasaragod, has no building number. It is a flat that can accommodate 42 families. Currently, 25 families are living in this building. Vigilance officials found that people have been living here for a year. The raids were conducted in 53 municipalities and six corporations.
