THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even after more than three weeks, the fact that the city police has not been able to find the miscreant or the Dio scooter used in connection with the AKG centre attack will be a challenge for the crime branch that is taking up the case.

In the CCTV footage of the incident, it is clear that the person used a red Dio scooter to reach the spot and throw the explosives, but the number of the scooter could not be identified.

The fact that the number is not clear even after checking it using techniques from foreign countries, labs of C DAC and forensics will be a tough test for the crime branch. In a case where there are no eyewitnesses, the assistance of an out-of-state lab will be necessary as the vehicle number is a crucial piece of evidence. The assailant was wearing a helmet and mask, so there is no possibility of a sketch. The city police have so far interrogated 200 people, including the suspects and those who posted against AKG Centre and CPM on social media. Statements of many people including AKG centre staff have also been recorded. The case file is likely to be handed over today as the DGP has ordered to speed up the investigation. With this, a new investigation will begin under the supervision of Crime Branch Chief Sheikh Darbesh Sahib.
