CHENNAI: A 28-year-old woman killed her daughter after upset over her bad performance in the PSC exam. The woman has been identified as Poonkodi, a resident of Alangiyam Kumarajar town in Tirupur. Poongodi was staying in Alangiyam Kamarajar town in Tirupur.
Her husband Kalidas committed suicide six years ago. Poongodi and her daughter Varsha, a fifth class student, were staying with her mother Saraswati. Poongodi was working in a private garment factory in Dharmapuram.
She had quit her job four months ago to prepare well for the PSC exam. The exam was on July 24. She had complained to her neighbours that the exam was tough and that she could not perform well. She was also worried for quitting her job as she did not have any other income.
When no one was at home yesterday morning, she hung her daughter Varsha and then committed suicide by hanging.
