Strict action by Vigilance against corruption; action against officials should be informed in writing

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance will direct the departments to inform in writing what action has been taken against the corrupt officials. The details will also be informed to the government. The action is to prevent corrupt people from escaping punishment by using political and organizational influence. Vigilance chief Manoj Abraham suggested that SPs should take action to ensure punishment.

The aim is to ensure the action of the head of the department in case of minor irregularities and the secretary of the department in case of serious irregularities. The Vigilance will approach the government if any department fails to take action. Vigilance recommends suspension, transfer, departmental inquiry to corrupt officials but they escape due to political influence.

Will intensify trap operations to find out corruption and bribery. One-year suspension will be ensured to corrupt officials.The Vigilance can conduct a preliminary investigation only after the complaints are forwarded to the government and permission is obtained. Only complaints against ex-ministers V K Ibrahimkunju, V S Sivakumar and ex-MLA K M Shaji received permission from government to conduct further investigation.
